Blog 316: You are not a slave

you are not a slave

There are times in our life when we feel that we are slaves to something. We have all asked the question, ‘what did your last slave die off?’ It is a question that is asked throughout life to almost everyone. This may be our work, our children, social media, house chores, our family. We all seems to be slaves to something in our lives and it will take a while for us to have time for ourselves and to realise that we are not slaves to anything in this world. We do not be need to be bound to anything not people, not society, not teaching, not anything and it is not something that we should be ashamed off. We do not have to be a slave to fear, we do not have to be a slave to anxiety, we do not have to be a slave for anything or to anyone and that is the most important thing.

There are so many things that take our attention from everyday things let alone from the things that we need to do. There are so many people that need our attention and we are not able to give it to them all the time. There are so many things that we have to do in a day and it can be hard to keep on going with everything happening and we feel like there are so many ‘slaves’ in our lives. We feel that we have to do things that we don’t want to do and we are tied down by so many people and different areas in our lives. It can be hard to be released from the things that tie us down and it can be hard to let go from the things that weigh us down in everyday life.

From the moment we were conceived we were slaves, not to our parents or anything in this world but to our selfish desires, to our own minds, to our own actions, to our own words and everything to do with us. We are slaves to our sin! We are slaves to the things that we would like and not what other people would like. We can be children of God, we can be born again, we can be chosen, we can be surrounded by our father, we can be delivered, we can be released from our sins, we can be sons and daughters of God, we can have perfect love, we can be rescued, we can be surrounded by Gods love. What is more important than that?

Through God we can be released from the bonds that tie us down, through God we can be born again, we can have a new life, we can have a new father, we can have a new family, we can have a love that is beyond anything else and something that we have never experienced before. Being a child of God is not something that we should take for granted but instead something that we can be grateful for. Being a child of God can take a lot of sacrifice, not just because we change but because we are being released from our sin through Gods grace and love. Gods love and grace is able and will change us but only if we are willing to change and accept Jesus into our heart. We will change but it is not something that we do overnight, it will be a slow process and we will change but we need to believe that God will help us to change.

If we believe that God will help us to change then we are able to do so many things with our life, we are able to be released from the bounds of the things that we are slaves to, we are able to be released from the things that hold us back, we are able to be released from the things that make us sin, we are able to be released from the things that harm other people. we are able to be released from the wrong words that we use, we are able to be released from the wrong things that we do, we will be released from the sin that we do. This is not to say that we will not sin in our life but that we can go to God and we can be forgiven, we can come to Him and we can be sorry for the actions and words that we have done. God is able to release us from the things that make us slaves but we have to listen to His word and be willing to accept His change in our life.
