Today is thanksgiving and I would like to wish all my American friends and followers a very Happy Thanksgiving. I wish we did it here in the UK but I know that it would not make sense. I love how there is one day a year where we think about being thankful for what we have, for the family we have, for the houses we have, for the friends we have, for the memories we have made, for the hot water we have, for the roof over our heads, for the bathrooms we have. We all take it for granted and it is good to be thankful for all these things and if that means one day of the year we think about it then I think that it is important and should be done. We need to focus on the things that really matter.
This is a time to reflect on the things that we do have and to stop and be thankful rather than wondering about the things that we do not have! There are so many things that the world throws at us and so many things that ‘we need’ when actually we don’t. Thanksgiving is another one of those holidays where the world wants us to buy things, wants us to get the latest gadgets and wants us to compete with others. There are so many things that the world thinks we need but actually it can be a real distraction to the time we can have with the family and the real meaning of the occasion. I find it amazing that straight after Thanksgiving, I mean the very next day, we have ‘black Friday’ were everyone wants everything. It is the world wanting us to have things that we do not have- it forces us to be selfish.
It is a time to pull away from all the hustle and bustle from the world but then it forces us to get back into it and get the things that we want rather than being thankful for the things we have and for the people that we have around us. Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for not only the things we have and the family around us but the year that we have been able to have. We should be thankful for all the things that we have been able to do, all the places we have been able to go to, the memories we have been able to make and so much more. We should be thankful for the year that we have had and for the year that is coming up. We don’t know what is going to happen in the year to come but we should be thankful for the journey that we have been able to go through. Our life is full of ups and downs but we are all thankful for the things that we have been able to do, the things we are able to say and the places we are able to go.
We should not let the worldly things come between us and being thankful for the things that we all ready have. We should be full of joy, relaxation and thanks. This is the one day of the year that we should be thankful for the things all around. We should not make the crazy and frenetic shopping spree ruin the day and make us more concerned about the things of the world rather than the thanks we should be feeling. We have so many bad things that go on in our life and sometimes it is hard to feel thankful for the things around us. I, myself, am so thankful for the things that I have been able to have, the things that I have been able to do, the people around me and the journey that I have come through. I am so thankful for all the things that has happened in my life.
Life has been hard but I am thankful for the lessons that I have bee able to learn. I am thankful for all the people that have stuck by my side, through thick and thin. With all the people that have stayed by me I am thankful for the God that has helped me and has kept me going through all the things that has been thrown my way. I am so thankful that God has stayed with me, he has put people around me that has helped me to keep on going, He has had creation to show me His glory and kindness all around me. There is so much that God has done in my life and I know that He will do so much more in my life also.
