All the things I didn’t know

all the things I didn't know

Many of you know that I went to Colombia in both 2006 and 2015. It was such a wonderful time but I can’t believe that it was six years ago! How time does go quickly! I can’t believe that I am now married and I am starting my own life. I can’t believe how fast life is going and it seems like Colombia was a life time ago. When I went to Colombia there was so many things that I didn’t know and there were so many things that I had to learn very quickly when I was out there. There were so many things I did not know and I had to go through them and I had to overcome them. I went in January but before I went God had set somethings in my heart and He helped me to have the passion to help other those other people. Here are all the things that I did not know:

I didn’t know that I would have a passion for this country.

I didn’t know that it would be so hard.

I didn’t know that I wouldn’t want to leave at the end.

I didn’t know that I would miss home so much.

I didn’t know that I would have to work hard.

I didn’t know that I would miss my dogs.

I didn’t know how hard it would be to miss my family and friends.

I didn’t know that I would make new friends.

I didn’t know that I would learn some Spanish.

I didn’t know how much I would love the Spanish food.

I didn’t know how much I would miss my mums cooking.

I didn’t know that I would be welcomed into the community.

I didn’t know that the children would love me.

I didn’t know that I would see so many different people.

I didn’t know that God would be so faithful.

I didn’t know how much I would miss my church.

I didn’t know that people would teach me so much about God.

I didn’t know how much I would love the children.

I didn’t know that I would struggle with sleep.

I didn’t know how much God would be close to me.

I didn’t know that I would form another family.

I didn’t know that I would fall so much for the children.

I didn’t know leaving would break my heart.

I didn’t know how much I would want to talk to people.

I didn’t know that the time difference would be hard.

I didn’t know that I would fall in love with the country.

I didn’t know that I would want to go back as soon as possible.

I didn’t know that I would learn so much about myself.

I am so thankful for the time that I have been able to have in Colombia and I am so thankful for the way that God has helped me to accept who I am and what my future will hold. I know that it will be hard and challenging but I also know that God will be by my side. I sometimes wonder that if I hadn’t of done what I had done then what life would hold. I wonder whether I would have learnt things about myself and other people. I wonder whether I would have grown in the person that I am, I am so grateful for all the people that have stood by me and for the love and support that they have shown me. I know that I would not have been able to go on this journey without them.

I also know that I would not have been able to go on this journey without God helping me. He gave me the strength that I have need, He has given me the love for other people, He has helped me to get through the tough times and I am thankful for all the ways that He has helped me. I am thankful that through all the things that life has thrown at me God has been by my side and I know that whatever the future holds He will continue to guide and love me no matter what. I know that God will continue to be my rock and He will continue to guide me and the next adventure that I go on. As I am now married I know that God will help us both in the way that He wants us to go, He will help us to love each other. He will help us to grow His kingdom through the way things have happened and the way He helps us.
