Have you ever thought about Gods grace? Have you ever thought of God forgiveness? Have you ever thought of how God looks at you? Have you ever thought about what you have done within seconds of getting out of bed? I once saw a prayer that said.
‘Dear Lord, So far I’ve done all right. I haven’t gossiped, haven’t lost my temper, haven’t been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or overindulgent. I’m really glad about that. But in a few minutes, God, I’m going to get out of bed. And from then on, I’m going to need a lot more help.”
( Lyrics from Reckless Love by Cory Asbury)
How many of us can relate to that? Within seconds of getting out of bed we can get annoyed, angry, lost our temper, shouted, gossiped, been big headed, wanted the last of something, been nasty, been selfish, be sad, been annoyed, shouted at the children, cussed at your spouse, interrupted, swearing (especially when you stub your toe on the bed), and so much more. How do you cope with these things? What is the go to thing you do after? Are you mad at yourself when you do these things? Do you get bad at other people for putting yourself in these positions? Do you feel sorry when you have done these things? It is easy to be able to carry on your day without even thinking of these things and thinking that you know it all but you don’t.
In order for us not to do the above we can try and go to bed earlier but the children will wake up in the night. We can try and have a cold shower to wake us up but that will only last an hour at most. We can try and keep going throughout the day but at some point we will get tired. We can try and eat the right food but we will eventually loose the diet plan. We can try and stay active but there will be that one day when we don’t have time to go to the gym. We can try and have a swear jar but you will forget to put money in it. We can try and be happy all the time but our batteries will eventually get dead. So what is the secret to carrying on and having the energy to keep going?
The secret, or not so obvious secret, is Gods grace. We don’t need to do good works for Gods grace to work. We don’t need to work hard for God to have grace. We don’t need to wake up in a happy mood for God to give us grace but instead it is all, Gods Riches At Christs Expense. How wonderful is that. Due to Jesus’ death on the cross we are able to come to God through Him and ask for His grace. It is because of the death of Jesus that we want to love and live better. We want to be calm with our children, we don’t want to get mad at our partners but instead we want to show them Gods love and grace through us.
Everyday we will fall short and everyday we will do things that we regret and don’t show our grace to other people but God does. No matter how much we fall short and how much we get mad Gods grace is always there. Nothing can change Gods love for me. Once we have accepted Him into our heart we will want to behave in a different way. As we want to change for our parents we would like to change for God because He is now our father and He shows His grace to us more than anyone else in the world. We know that God will not stop showing us His grace and He will be there no matter what happens in our lives. Will you accept Gods grace today?
Today, I will call you “Grace” for sharing God’s grace in such a way.
