Blog 74: I am Thankful

It is thanksgiving in America and we don’t seem to celebrate it this side of the pond but I think we should. I don’t personally know a lot about it but I know that it goes a long way back in history, they have turkey for dinner and it is a national holiday. Having my best friend in America I feel that I should know a lot more than I do! I think that every country should have a day where they can give thanks for all the things that they have been blessed with. Being thankful is very important in life.

We all know that we are more blessed than other people and we should be thankful for that. We should be thankful for the roof over our heads, the device to read this on, the bed that keeps us warm, electricity, friends, family, partners, pets, health, legs that we can walk on, the food in our fridges, the weather stations, our brain that functions each day and so much more. I am blessed to have people around me that actually care about how I am feeling and how they can best help me. I am thankful for the things that I am able to do. Even though I just had an operation the other day I am so thankful that I can have surgery without needing to pay for it. I am thankful that things can get sorted. I may be in pain now but I know that the future will be bright.

Other than friends and family the main things I am thankful for is the love that God has shinned upon me and the blessings that He has given to me. In the past year I have struggled with loosing friends and family, loosing people I love, having mental health issues, not settling in a permanent place and so much more but God has now blessed me. This time last year I didn’t know where to turn to and what to do, I didn’t know who to trust or who to believe, I didn’t know what the future would hold and who would be by my side.

Looking back now I can see that it all came out in the wash and that everything has a purpose to it. I know that God helped me to overcome my fears and failures to be a stronger person. I am thankful that I am soon to be married and have the best person in the world to be married to, I am thankful that I have friends and family around me who understand what I have and what I have gone through. I am thankful that I now have a flat to call my own, I am thankful that I have my space to do things.

2019 has been my year of giving thanks and I don’t think that we should just have one day of being thankful to God for all that He has done for us. God has blessed me more than I could imagine and He will keep me going in the future. I know that when bad and trying things come that He is making me into a person that He wants me to be and it is all to His glory.
