Blog 55: Countryside retreat

It was just recently that I went to Norfolk with some of my fiancés university friends and I have to say I was a bit worried about being away with four guys but it was pretty fun and entertaining (just don’t tell them I said that!). I wasn’t really sure what the weekend would hold and how I would feel about being surrounded by so many boys but we all got on so well and had so much fun.

We were in the middle of nowhere with no signal, the birds singing, the sheep bleating, the farmers harvesting, the flowers blooming, no cars driving, the camera was out, cricket was the main sport and spiders to keep us company! It was such a beautiful house with fields all around, green grass and the farmers field. You would think that we were in Devon or Cornwall with the beauty around but we were in Norfolk!

Firstly I didn’t know that it was so far away from London but it was so worth the drive, it was on the same road all the way but when we hit the countryside what an amazing site it was. The sunset on the way over was so amazing, it was almost like God had got a paint brush and painted the sky in pink, orange, blue and yellow. It was just what we needed to see after such a long day working and travelling. It was so beautiful and a start to the wonderful weekend and people with.

We spent most of the time just chilling, playing cricket, walking, cycling, playing board games and just enjoying being in each others company. It was good weather too which was a real bonus. I would love to come back to Norfolk and to enjoy the countryside and to be with these wonderful people again, it felt like I was on Christian camp and it was great! There was great people, great food and a great atmosphere.

It was amazing to sit in the countryside and to be able to see the creation of God and all that He has done for us. The little lambs in the field were bleeting and it was so cute. What a wonderful God we have. In all of the countryside, the beauty, the friendships there is one that we don’t have to put time aside and put dates aside but one that we can come to at anytime of year, at any time of the day and at any time of the month.
