What does the 14th February represent for you? Do you make it romantic? Is it about the one you love? Do you go on date night? Have you got a special someone to share it with? Do you dread this day? Is this day a hard day for you? Do you forget about it until you see that card from your other half? Do you try to bypass the day? Do you stay in bed as it reminds you of a past relationship?
Valentines day is a day in the year where we think mainly about the person that we love, our husbands, our wives, our boyfriends, our girlfriends and out fiances. Its about sharing and giving and showing that person how much we love and care for them and how much they have made a difference to our lives. We want to show them that our lives would be so much different if they were not in it and we appreciate all that they do for us and for the love that they have for us.
As we go about our everyday lives our special ones may feel unloved and our special ones may not always be at the forefront of our minds but on this one special day we can think about them and how we can love them more. For each of those people in your lives who are special make sure that they fell loved and special on this day but also the rest of the year too.
For me this Valentines day is very special because I have someone to share it with. Dan my boyfriend and I will have been together for 8 months on the 10th of this month and it has been a real blessing to be able to get to know him and his family. This valentines day is going to be special because I will be spending it with Dan but it will be even more special because there is One higher who loves me and doesn’t ‘forget’ about me whatever the day.
‘God is Love’ ‘Because God first loved us we are able to love.’ If it wasn’t for God first loving us then we would not be able to love others and we would not have this special day in our calendar of where we are able to sow love to others. So many people in this society want you to be ‘perfect’ but God loves and accepts us the way we are. We may be homeless, hurting, lost, unloved, single, divorced, unmarried and the rest but God opens his arms and accepts you to his Kingdom as long as you trust and believe in him. So this Valentines day don’t just think about the people around you but think about how much God loves you.
